Below are a collection of answers to frequently asked questions associated with the Edge • U badging program. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, please fill out the contact form, and we will respond with an answer.
Q: Can I complete Edge • U Badges over the summer?
A: Yes! We will still receive your Edge U Badge submissions over the summer. Many of the Edge • U Badges require a classroom implementation component to complete, but you can get a jump-start on the learning and planning part now, and be ready to hit the ground running this Fall with final implementation to earn the badge! And, if you need some help with implementation planning or a technical issue, you can e-mail us anytime at edgeu@forward-edge.net.
Q: Can I turn my points earned for badges into graduate credit?
A: Yes! If you have earned at least 62 points in Edge • U Badges, you are eligible for ONE semester hour of graduate credit through Ashland University. Or, 124 points in Edge • U Badges makes you eligible for two semester hours of graduate credit. Graduate credit requires a separate fee paid to Ashland University. A representative from Ashland University will be on-site at your school district before the end of the school year to complete your registration. All points being turned in for graduate credit must have been earned within the same calendar year. In order to get graduate credit, please complete this Points Redemption Form!
Q: How many points do I have?
A: On the main Edge • U Badges page (or any sub-page), scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Your total accumulated points will be listed below the “Credly Credit Issuer” button. If your points are not listed there, make sure you are logged in to Edge • U Badges using your account information.
Q: Can I turn my points earned for badges into CEUs?
A: Yes! If you would like a CEU certificate for the Edge U Badge points you have earned during the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year, please complete this Points Redemption Form!
Q: Can I get CEUs and graduate credit for the same points I’ve earned?
A: No. You may not use the same points toward both CEUs and graduate credit. However, you may divide the points you have earned between CEUs and graduate credit. For instance, if you have earned 100 points in Edge • U Badges, you may choose to receive 1 graduate credit hour (62 points) and a certificate for 9.5 contact hours (38 points). Please complete this Points Redemption Form to let us know how you’d like to divvy your points!
Q: If I get graduate credit or CEUs for my badge points, does it lower my total?
A: No! All the points you have earned for completing Edge • U Badges stay on your Edge • U Badges account. We maintain a record of what badges you have earned and when, to determine eligibility for graduate credit or CEUs.
Q: If I don’t request graduate credit or CEUs, do I lose the points I’ve earned?
A: No! Your accumulated points stay with you. If you want to receive graduate credit later, you have up to one calendar year from the time you earned the points to redeem them for graduate credit through Ashland University (additional fee required). For CEUs, please refer to your local LPDC concerning when CEUs must be accumulated for them to apply to your IPDP.
