Below are a collection of answers to frequently asked questions associated with the Edge • U badging program. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, please fill out the contact form, and we will respond with an answer.
1. I’m having trouble getting started. How do I create an account and log in to start earning badges?
First, you have to create an account with Credly, a digital credentials platform. Your Credly account information grants users access to the Edge • U badging program. Use your Credly account credentials to log in to www.edgeubadges.com by clicking this link. Watch this video and earn your very first badge by completing the tasks that follow. Following these steps help you get started with the Edge • U badge experience.
2. I don’t see a submission box for each badge…what should I do?
If you don’t see a submission box for each badge, you’re not properly logged in to the site. Log in to the edgeubadges.com platform with your Credly credentials here. Once your logged into the WordPress site, you’ll see the Edge • U logo next to a “Home” icon in the upper lefthand corner of the site’s dashboard. Navigate to the “Home” icon and click “Visit Site.” From that point forward, you should see a submission box on any badge page which will allow you to complete badge tasks and submit the required evidence for each badge.
3. Some of the badge tasks and evidence submissions don’t apply to my current teaching role…can I still earn the badge by completing an alternative task instead?
Send an email to edgeu@forward-edge.net, and we’ll work something out that fits your needs. Although certain digital tools have very specific purposes, the majority of the tools featured in the Edge • U badging program adapt to a wide range of grade levels, subject areas, and teaching roles.
4. I’m not receiving credit for my badges and/or my total points aren’t updating on the leaderboard…what’s wrong?
Typically, badge submissions require 1-2 weeks to be reviewed and processed. Once your badge submission has been reviewed and approved, you may need to log into your Credly account and accept your credit. You can view your pending badges by viewing your achievements in the Credly dashboard. Check your “Inbox” to accept new badges. Once you’re logged into the Credly dashboard, you can make Forward Edge a “trusted issuser” to accept new badge credits automatically.
5. Some badge pages have a text submission box and a button to add attachments for evidence. Other badge pages don’t include button to add attachments.
How should I submit evidence when there’s no button to add attachments?
Simply put, badge pages that don’t include a button to upload attachments don’t require any evidence that needs to be attached. Likely, those badges require users to submit a hyperlink/URL to a website or document or some other text entry, and that evidence that be copied and pasted right into the provided submission box. Once you’ve entered the appropriate URL/text, click “Submit.”
Pages that have a button for uploading attachments do, in some shape or form, require an attached file for submission. Choose an appropriate file that fulfills the badge evidence requirement, and click “Submit.” *To avoid delays, please check the sharing permissions for any document, file, URL, etc you submit to ensure the evidence review panel can access your submissions.*
6. Although learning about new classroom strategies and technologies is great, is there a tangible incentive for earning badges?
Yes! In short, earned badges directly convert into Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) that can be used to fulfill license renewal requirements. Forward Edge has also partnered with Ashland University to convert earned badges into graduate credit hours. Check out the CEUs and Grad Credit page for more information.
